The DJI Avata 360: A New 360° Drone to Rival Insta360's Antigravity A1
DJI is reportedly planning to release a new 360° drone, the Avata 360, which could potentially rival Insta360's Antigravity A1, the company's first drone. This news comes from a well-regarded leaker who claims to have received confirmation of the upcoming release.
The rumors of DJI's Avata 3 drone have been circulating for over six months, with various leakers speculating about the Neo 2 and Mini 5 Pro. However, DJI has since launched these models, and recent leaks suggest the Neo 2 could be released globally later this month.
Since May, alleged Avata 3 prototypes have emerged, showcasing a unique drone design that differs from the Avata 2, released in April 2024. The Avata 2, priced at $1,199 on Amazon, featured a more acrobatic design. In contrast, the new drone has a flatter appearance, indicating that DJI's next release might not be a third-generation model in the traditional sense.
The leaker, Igor Bogdanov, now confirms that the drone will be launched as the Avata 360, not the Avata 3. This move appears to be a direct challenge to Insta360's Antigravity A1, which was previewed earlier this year and is set to launch in January 2026. The Avata 360 is expected to start at around $1,099, though this price has not been officially confirmed.
This development raises questions about the future of drone technology and the competition between DJI and Insta360 in the 360° drone market.
