Heads up, Dubai drivers! Get ready for some weekend road adjustments as the city gears up for the T100 Triathlon World Championship. This exciting event means potential delays, so let's dive into what you need to know to navigate smoothly.
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued a traffic alert for Saturday, November 15th, and Sunday, November 16th. Motorists should prepare for road closures and possible disruptions due to the triathlon. Planning your route in advance is key, and be sure to factor in extra travel time. Following traffic signs is also super important for a safe journey.
The T100 Triathlon is back, taking place from November 13th to 16th, and will see athletes competing in swimming, cycling, and running stages. The race route passes some of Dubai’s most famous landmarks, including the iconic Burj Khalifa. Pretty cool, right?
Here's where it gets specific: The RTA has identified the roads most likely to be affected. Keep an eye out for alternate routes and expect delays, especially on these roads:
- Saturday, November 15th: Al Athar St – Al Hadiqa Rd – Al Meydan Rd
- Sunday, November 16th: Al Athar St – Al Hadiqa Rd – Al Meydan Rd – Al Manama St
But here's where it gets controversial... Salik is adjusting toll rates to manage traffic flow on Sunday, November 16th. Let's break down the changes:
- Morning peak (6 am – 10 am): Dh6 (increased from Dh4)
- Evening peak (4 pm – 8 pm): Dh4 (standard rate)
- Low peak (10 am – 4 pm & 8 pm – 1 am): Dh4 (standard rate)
These adjustments are designed to keep traffic moving smoothly while athletes compete in the 2 km swim, 80 km bike ride, and 18 km run.
What do you think? Will these changes affect your weekend plans? Do you think the toll adjustments are fair? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
