Bold claim: the 35m Green Marine racing ketch Sojana has changed hands, signaling a notable moment in performance yacht trading. In a deal brokered by Bernard Gallay Yacht Brokerage, Nicolas Marchand represented the seller, while Hank Halsted of Northrop & Johnson introduced the buyer, leading to Sojana’s sale.
Sojana, delivered in 2003 as a purpose-built high-performance ketch, was crafted by the renowned Farr Yacht Design studio. The brief was clear: build the longest and fastest yacht that the owner and friends could handle with minimal crew. In cruising mode, a core crew of five suffices, though the vessel can readily accommodate a larger race crew when required.
The yacht’s asking price stood at €3,500,000 prior to the sale. Sojana underwent a full cosmetic and technical refit in 2016, with significant upgrades completed in 2022 and 2023. Notably, these updates included a new engine, servicing of all generators, and the installation of a North Sails 3Di sail wardrobe, Hall Spars carbon rigging, and a B&G H5000 electronics suite.
Sojana is designed for race-course dominance, boasting a proven performance pedigree at regattas such as the St. Barths Bucket, Antigua Sailing Week, and the Palma Superyacht Cup. Under the former ownership of the late Sir Peter Harrison, the yacht built an impressive list of sailing victories.
The interior, created by Ken Freivokh, embraces a traditional yachting ambiance with dark mahogany woodwork and gold-plated fittings. Accommodations sleep eight guests across four cabins: a forward-positioned master suite, two doubles, and a twin, plus a small kids’ cabin.
The main saloon is described as warm and understated, featuring built-in seating, comfortable sofas, and a bright dining area. Onboard amenities include air-conditioning, Apple TV, a SONOS sound system, and a sparkling water machine.
Technical details from BOATPro note that Sojana has been on the market since October 2023. The vessel is a 124 GT sailing yacht with a beam of 7.7 metres and a draft of 4.5 metres. Its cruising speed under power is about 10 knots, while under sail she is several knots faster.
Sojana’s last publicly known asking price remained €3,500,000.
